On the SGU common application one of the questions is

Have you faced any hardships from birth to present?

wtf is that supposed to mean? lol does it mean did I have to battle back from cancer, or did I not get what I wanted for Christmas last year. lol you know what I mean. What are they considering a hardship. And it doesn't look like they expect an essay or anything. I assume they're talking about things like a parent dying or something like that...

What they are trying to get at that with the question is anything you would have considered a hardship and to explain that. SGU puts a lot of weight to "life experience" in the application process as opposed to stateside schools. Yes, of course, numbers do matter but if you have gone thru some life experience that changed you or set you on a different path, they want to know about it and will use it in the process.
