Is it really okay? The website said to stay off the beach at night, which makes sense i guess, but what about if you stay in groups? I'm an ignorant American obviously. I'd love to be able to enjoy the island life on my (limited) free time without getting hurt or robbed.

It is a poor country and non-natives are all seen as rich people. You do the math.

You can walk on the beach in Grand Cayman at midnight and nobody is going to hurt you. Of course you need to be cautious anywhere you go late at night.

I know that you are still looking into SMU, and I wanted to share with you a few recent educational updates that have not been posted on their website:

The current pharmacology and toxicology professor wrote the toxicology section of the Merck Veterinary Manual.

The current anatomy professor taught at Ross and SGU first. He recently came from SGU.

Good luck!

I was there in 97-98.

Grenada and St Vinnies were fairly safe.
I look like a Marine and that may have made some difference.

We would drink and swim off grand anse beach at midnight. I've walked from lance aux pines (Boat Yard bar) to the airport runway while drunk and nobody bothered me. There is a cool bar on the round about up the street from Nick's and I've had no problem hanging out there after midnight.
I can't speak for the library on campus-never been there.
