Hi! Want to preface by saying that I will get at least 100 shadowing hours by shadowing a dentist here in the US!

But my grandpa is a dentist/orthodontist/ oral surgeon (multiple specialties) in Pakistan and I was wondering if I should put summer shadowing hours with him on my application in the future or not? Im gonna shadow him regardless as I will hopefully be taking over his clinics if I get into dental school and become a dentist obviously But yah just wondering if it's something that should go on my application and if it is then I'll keep track of my hours. Thanks!

Shadowing is about showing your interest in the profession and confirming that dentistry is for you. Shadowing internationally can only help in my mind.

I think that would be cool. Good to see dentistry outside of the US and how it differs.

I think that will be a unique experience HOWEVER you will still need to get the 100 in the US as well. But definitely include it, just don't make it your sole shadowing experience. Afterall you are going to dental school in the US not pakistan and procedures and regulations are different.

Yes will definitely do 100 hours worth of shadowing hours at least in the US!

Thanks everyone for the help🙂
