How did you find a DO to shadow?

How long did you shadow him/her before asking for letter of recommendation?

Can the whole thing be just couple of hours?

I have already worked so many hours in ER/OR but no DO there ...

where can I find DO s from?

please help ASAP I have to get my Personal Statment and send my application ASAP!

Thank you all

i started with the phone book. there is a section just for osteopathic physicians. some said they would do interviews and write letters, but did not allow shadowing. they also gave me the names and numbers of other DO's in the area to try. i think i called 10, met w/ 2 and finally found 1 to actually shadow. you could also try looking at the FAQs. i am sure there is more info there.

the website is a little outdated. the DO is shadowed has been in Virginia for 4 years, but she is still listed as being in PA. and another one i interviewed with is still listed in TX. you may want to try searching with only one criteria entered. or since you seem to have a particular one in mind, just try googling him/her.

I tried Blue cross and wasnt there either..
it is frustrating...

There is no fix place for all DO s?

okay beside a little outdated part of it.. does it have all the DO s? if I look by last name suppose?

So I went to the local hospital CEO and told him I was interested in going to DO school. Fortunately, at our small hospital (25 beds) there are about 5 DOs who work as surgeons or physicians in the clinic. I was able to shadow two fo the DOs and they were very receptive to the idea as they knew about the application process. I also looked online a bit, but those lists seemed a bit outdated. I would suggest that you do a physician search on a hospital website, usually they list their degree and where it was attained. If you need any other suggestions, just pm me.
