Shadowing a DO. How to approach???

In order to apply to DO school, shadowing a DO is essential. But how exactly do I get a DO shadowing position? Do I call them up and just ask them " Hey can I foolow you aroun? 🙂 Just kidding but anyone oput there can you please share how you went about dointg this.
 
Why not call up a D.O. and say "Can I follow you around?"

Perhaps don't make it as plain as that...but state your purpose in doing so...

"Hi. My name is such and such and I am a junior at such and such school. I am interested in becoming a physician and would love to learn what the osteopathic physician does by following you around for a few days. Would that be possible? I would really appreciate it if you would give me the chance to do so."

Seems OK to me.
