I'm trying to find a DO doctor to shadow since many osteopathic schools do require/highly recommend a letter from them. I've tried cold calling and emailing a few but I'm keep getting turned down. Does anyone know a DO that is willing to allow students to shadow him around NYC area? I'm willing to drive to NJ and CT as well. .

Try faculty from NYIT or Touro.

Is there any particular way I should approach them? For instance, through the volunteering department or should I pick and choose doctors randomly and start emailing them.

If you can find email addresses, I would personally go that route.

Hours: 30-85 hours/per physician

Thanks. I'm on a wait list and right now and the adcom said the best way I can improve my chance to get off it are to shadow a DO. I assume that includes getting a letter as well. The thing is, I only have until April 15th to make changes/updates to my aacomas file. Do you think it's realistic that I could shadow and get a LOR in that time? I just requested all 22 DOs in my surrounding area to mentor, so we'll see.
