I've realized that shadowing a doctor and/or volunteering at a hospital is one aspect of beefing up your application/stats. My question is how do I start? I've already graduated from college, I have a good job, but I do work in a typical medical center district(TMC), were coming in contact with an M.D. Is like seeing grass on the ground. I def want to shadow a doctor to really see it is, but just don't know how to go about the whole process??? Thanks in advance!

As for volunteering, the hospitals where I live require that you have a current TB test on file and go through some sort of orientation, and usually a 6 month - 12 month commitment, because they incur somewhat of a cost by giving you a TB test. Most hospitals have a volunteer department. Find their number on www.google.com, and call them.

To shadow a physician, ask one of these doctors that you come across every day.

Thanks! Im more in favor of shadowing a doctor vs volunteering, but whatever works in my behalf!😀

Definitely not an either/or, you should do both. 🙂 You don't have to volunteer in a hospital. At a free clinic you'd probably be able to do more, since a lot of hospitals don't let volunteers go anywhere near patients.

i come in direct contact with patients where i volunteer. i guess it all depends on the hospital.
