Shadowing a MD?

Hi all,

I've been watching these threads for awhile now and decided to finally make an account! 🙂 I've been trying to find a pharmacist to shadow for sometime now and I eventually ended up widening my search to doctors. And a MD (family medicine) said yes! But I'm still kind of skeptical and unsure because...its not a pharmacist. I just think that they'll frown upon it? What do you guys think??

From my experience, talking to and shadowing doctors is a great way to expand your knowledge of the medical field and improve your understanding of how pharmacists fit into the bigger picture of healthcare. Although you're not exactly following a pharmacist, you get to see how a physician diagnoses a patient's condition and understand how treatment plays a role. Also, you can ask the physician about other aspects of their career that can help clarify whether pharmacy is what you want to pursue. I definitely would suggest exploring various career options so that at the end of the day, you're confident that you've made the right career choice. And it doesn't hurt to tell pharmacy schools that either (I know Purdue gives you the option to) 😛
