I hear conflicting things about this: should I put shadowing a pathologist as clinical experience? (Edit: I know shadowing in general doesn't count as clinical experience but I'm a hs senior applying for bs/md and my app wants me to put clinical shadowing under "Clinical Experiences")

Shadowing is not clinical experience...
Lets clarify this
On the AMCAS application they have 3 categories for clinical related activities: clinical volunteering, clinical employment, shadowing. Generically these 3 categories would fall under clinical experiences. Some medical schools will look at all these as one overall category

As to the OP who is applying BS/MD, shadowing a pathologist, who is a MD/DO graduate followed by a medical residency, would be considered clinical experience. If the question was about patient exposure, thay would be a no
