Shadowing and LOR's

I have a question regarding shadowing and asking for letters of recommendation...what is considered an "acceptable" number of times to meet with anyone before you ask them to write a letter for you???

It really just depends on the doctor. I met with a D.O. for 1 hour and he offered to write me a letter of rec. Others may take a couple meetings.
