I have a dilemma, I'm Canadian and I've recently decided to apply to dental schools in the US, but I have no shadowing experience whatsoever. Seeing that it's already August, I want to get my applications out asap, prefereably within the week. But will I still get much consideration and invite to interviews with no experience just from my academic records? GPA: 3.6 Sci GPA: 3.55 DAT: 20/20 I do plan on getting some shadowing experience from now on, though I don't think I'll get it in before sending out my applications. Will it reflect badly? If I don't even get interviews then I won't be able to tell them about my subsequent shadowing experiences.

Quick question about LOR, I've read on the boards that it's faster to send it directly to the schools. But is it ok if I collect maybe 10 copies of all the LORs from various profs and send it out myself to the schools individually, in a sealed envelop of course? Or should I ask the profs to send them out directly for me? In which case I feel it's troubling them too much since there will be multiple schools.

Thanks for any help in advance.

If you could get something in there before you apply that would be great so that it would appear on your AADSAS report. But you also want to apply as early as possible. If you don't you can always bring a LOR from the dentist that you shadowed afterwards to the interview and that would give you something to talk about as well as give you credit for doing it.

But the point is will I have reasonably good chance of getting interviews without it in the first place??

Also can anyone give me some advice on that LOR question I posted above?

Thank you for your input

I sent LOR through aadsas for the same reason that you mentioned. Its too much hassle for the writers to send out like a zillion copies.
