Whatsup guys,

I just have a question regarding shadowing hours. So I'm looking to apply to Columbia, UCLA, UCSF, Harvard, and Rutgers, but I only have about 20-30 hours shadowing a general dentist. I'm concerned that this isn't enough.

I guess I should explain my background a bit more. I go to a state school in the Northeast, and I have a 3.9 GPA (3.94 Science) with a 26 AA DAT. I've shadowed an oral surgeon for about 50-100 hours, but I don't know if that really makes a difference. I'm also taking a gap year.

With all of this, could someone please let me know where I stand?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Honestly I wouldn't stress about getting 100 gen dentist shadowing hours with your stats. I would get more, but wouldn't worry about it. Admission boards are never black and white, they look at the whole picture! Best of luck!

However, if their admission REQUIREMENTS say 100 hours, then get 100. Admission committees will value all your experiences!
