For this cycle, would starting additional shadowing/volunteering activities and then updating schools about it help for getting more II's and getting off the waitlist?

Eg would shadowing for a straight week and then emailing schools about it help at all at this stage in the game?

Update letters are not always welcome, depending on the school. When they are, they are typically for significant/meaningful achievements or grade updates.

One week of shadowing does not constitute either.
