Shadowing/volunteering

I signed up for volunteering and sort of have a shadowing thing in the summer hopefully but had a few questions.
How are the hours logged or reported for both? Do I come to the hospital with a sheet they sign every day or come to the dentist office with a shadowing sheet or something? Do I bring a sheet at the end ?
Do they keep track of my hours or do I?
And how many hours is a good amount for both shadowing and volunteering each?

You keep track of your own shadowing hours and volunteering hours.

You want at least 100 shadowing hours for most schools. For volunteering, there is no set amount, you shouldn't be just volunteering to get hours to add to your application, you should be doing it because you want to do it
