Shadowing/Volunteering

Hi, I asked a local dentist if I could volunteer/shadow for him...he told me that since I had a great Resume that he would like for me very much around the dental office so I could learn and get a feeling about the practice. Great right? well the problem is he told me that he is finding it hard to get privacy/security issues resolved since Ontario (Canada) just passed new guidelines... I respect this very much, but I need to volunteer and he told me that he is trying to get this cleared up.... Does anyone know more information about guidlines pertaining to workplace/safetly guidelines....is this the same as what you went through?

Please help!!
