i'm pretty sure that i want to be a neuropsychologist as far as research goes. but i realized that i'm not very knowledgeable about the clinical practice side. i know they use a few standard asessment tests like the Bender but don't know much else. if there are any clinical neuropsychologists on here could you describe a typical day for you?

i think it might be a good idea to shadow one, but i've never really done shadowing before. should i ask to come in for a day? a few days? would it be better to look for one working in a hospital? i think i want to go into private practice but i feel like for shadowing purposes a hospital might have more going on. maybe that's not true.

and would it even be pretty hard for me to do research and be in private pratice?

thanks for any ideas on these topics

The local psychologists where I am all said no to me because they said most patients want their confidentiality, and would not be very acceptable to have an "outsider" watch.

Really? That sucks. I mean it's understandable but I thought that many people have been able to shadow psychologists. Has anyone on here had a positive experience with this?

The only shadowing I've done was with a doc in a sleep clinic (for a few hours) earlier this year. At first I thought the patients might be suspicious of me, but they were all cool.
