Hey guys,

I had a general question about shelf exams. First of all, how do i convert a raw score into a percentile score. I scored around 70 on my surgery exam, and it doesn't sound like too hot of a score at all. Secondly, is this exam representative of the usmle 2? If so, I need to work much harder.

I don't know how to convert it, we were always told our percentiles.

As for USMLE-2, in my opinion the shelfs were a bit harder than step 2 but the question format is the same - 2 or 3 step questions based on clinical vignettes.
