Oh my Gawd Guys.. I applied to Shenandoah with a 3.45 GPA and a 75 on my PCAT and was rejected. I've been working at a pharmacy for like 7 years. I just found out through pharmcas. Under designation it said "denied by school" I can't believe I didn't get at least an interview. For those who got an interview and got accepted...Was your GPA higher and Im sure your PCAt was higher as well. Please leave some feedback guys! I'm totally bummed right now!! 😕

You're GPA is fine, but you should retake the PCAT then apply again. Most schools aren't even going to look at your application with a score that low.

A 50 on the PCAT is generally considered "passing" so a 55 is not excellent (Sorta like getting a D in a class). Try to raise your PCAT to around the 80 range and you'll be set.

Faith without works is dead. (JAMES 2:14-26). So, with that said the OP will have to work on that PCAT score.

Simply put, you need to retake your PCAT and reapply next year.

Did you apply to any other schools? Keep your chin up and retake the pcat, ifyou can even get your score up to a 70-something you have a shot.

On the PCAT the difference between 40-70 is minor. It is supposed to be something like the difference of missing 10 questions between a score of 40 to 70. The majority of people who take the PCAT bunch up in the middle there somewhere. Those that are above the 70 begin to really stand out from the rest of the PCAT takers.

Of course that doesn't mean you can't get accepted. It just means you are in with a whole bunch of people all trying to get in. It takes more to stand out from the rest.

Just like a bell curve....the majority of the people are somewhere on the top or slightly to the left or right of the top of the bell curve. Those on the bottom part of the bell curve...towards the 100% stand out....for the PCAT that is 70+

Thankyou very much you guys! I've taken the PCAT like 5 times and 75 is the highest I've pulled. It's so devestating..I applied to 6 schools got rejected by MErcer, Shenandoah..so that leaves 4 more....Sigh,,,,I think I'm just gonna go and get a finance degree and be done with it. Just the thought about taking the pcat again makes me want to cry. The verbal and reading comp is what gets me down..English is not my first language so its hard..

Many schools will only consider your first 2 PCATs in the past certain number of years.

after i saw your thread, i checked my pharmCAS application too and it said the same thing. And I realized that Shenandoah doesn't require supplemental application but supplemental Fee! I haven't submit the fee yet. and I'm pretty sure that's why they denied the paper application to be mailed to them. I already got into the school of my choice so I'm not going to worry about it. But if Shenandoah is your first choice, then submit the fee as soon as possible. Hope it helps.

hey, LaoSaint, i totally understand how you feel....My verbal section is Not that high either, which pulls my Pcat's score down...Before , i got a bad score on reading comp too, but keep on practicing and maybe change the way you're having been studying..The reason I said that is before when I took Pcat, I tried to read through the questions first, then look for key words and then read those passages, but this method didn't work well..So next time on my Pcat, i read those passages first quicky to get the main ideas, then i read questions....By using this method, my reading comp's score improved!!! It worked for me...so I guess I am trying to say is if one method doesn't work, you can try a different ones.....

It's hard to do well on Pcat for those who are English is their native language, and of course it's harder for those English is their second language...Many of my friends retake, retake Pcat, and keep on trying and some of them are in Pharmacy schools right now....I am going through the samething that you're feeeling...With the thought of retaking the Pcat makes me wanna cry and I want to throw those books away , but hey, it's not easy so if you really want to study Pharmacy, you just want to try again...good luck and hopefully you''ll hear some good news...

I know how you feel. My verbal and reading comprehension isn't that good either, since I am not a native speaker myself, but I'm sure that 7 years of experience in pharmacy field worth a lot. LaoSaint, keep your hopes up. I'm sure you'll hear good news from the other schools.

i don't think so because i didn't turn in my supplemental fee and I actually got an interview and was accepted a few days after... my gpa was also much lower than 3.45, but my pcat was high.
