Hi all,

Wondering if all could post their shift schedules here from different residencies. Some put it on their website. I want to learn at a residency, but not be overworked. I haven't found a good way to figure this out. Cause obviously I'm not going to ask this at my interview.

Post your shift schedule (length/number per month, plus schedule off service) if you can! It would be much appreciated!

Very interested in:
Emory, MUSC, Vanderbilt, Carolinas, GW, Georgetown, Maryland, Jefferson, UPenn, Temple, Beth Israel/Alb Einstein, St Lukes Roosevelt, Boston Medical Center, Texas A&M, UT Houston, Southwestern, UCSD, UCLA-Harbor, UCSF, Stanford, Oakland/Highland

Why not? It's the equivalent of asking whether you're Q3 or Q4, overnight or with night float and plenty of IM, Peds, FM and Surgery applicants ask about that.

It's not a question for the PD or some random faculty member interviewing you though. Ask the residents. Honestly, it should be in the info packet or "Residency Overview" lecture you get anyway. If it's not, it's kosher to ask.

UCONN: EM months are approximately 20 9 hour shifts per month. There is also mandatory 4 hours of conference per week, monthly journal club and monthly grand rounds. Off-Service months vary, but inpatient months like ICU and trauma are generally Q4 call.
