Hello there,
My dear friend's (female, 48 yrs old) initial symptoms in her left eye began about 8 years ago and started as a "circular white cloud, size of a speck" over her left pupil. Over the years, she has seen several Eye Doctor's/Specialists (Bay Area, East Coast and HI) and their orders were usually; no TV at night, always wear sunglasses during the day, no major exercising... basically, do nothing to strain her eye. Throughout these years, she has used, and continues to use; Vatrex (1x p/d ) and Prednisone (4x p/d). A few times, she has had excruciating episodes of migraines (she describes the pain to go beyond a migraine headache) whereas the doctor had to inject, with a long needle, a steroid, directly into her left eye.
An Ophthalmologist in Pleasanton, Ca. diagnosed her left eye, that of the "Shingles, Herpes & Chicken-pox" family and there is NO actual name to her condition. Even more sad, her right eye is currently 20/20, although, the Ophthalmologist informed her that she will eventually lose sight in her right eye too.
Have you, in your expertise, ever heard of a case such as this or comparable to her condition/disease?
This lady is a dear-sweet-loving young lady and deserves so much in life; she recently (within the past 1.5 year lost her only brother, mother and father)... and since then (so much crying thus pressure in her left eye) was when she became legally/totally blind in her left eye.
Respectfully, Regina
