Hey -- anyone know about doing rotations at Shock Trauma as a DO student during 3/4 years? This has been my dream for quite a while & wanted to know if this dream is reasonable for DO students

Is "Shock Trauma" some sort of special location at a hospital? Whats the name of the hospital?

I assume Baltimore shock trauma.

Ah I see. So that's the TV show that's been around with everyone wearing the pink scrubs.

@Medic741 you will need to apply through VSAS. I can assume that many of the UMD medical students as well as those from JHU will also be applying to rotate there so competition will be fierce.

Historically speaking, Shock Trauma doesn't have an extreme DO bias. I imagine it will be possible, assuming you put in the leg work.

Excellent. Thank you @ERinspired, one of the docs I worked with spent some time there and recommended I try to make it out that way for an elective. Gauging if it was worth the leg work, and if there's a possibility of that dream becoming a reality will go for it. Thanks!

N=1 obviously but I personally know 3 DOs who came out of Shock Trauma and I Iive no where near Baltimore so it's definitely possible.

Same, I'm in the Midwest and know two DOs that did fellowships up yonder. As one of the biggest names in trauma, they do have an obligation and presumed desire to be as accessible as possible to potential residents and fellows.

Super exciting! Thank you so much guys 🙂
