All but one of the schools I interviewed at require 8 credit hours of general chemistry and, unfortunately, I only have 5 credit hours. Neither of the two options for second semester gen chem course next semester will work, as they interfere with a course needed to complete my bio major or the biochem class I need to take as well. Any advice? Any one else run in to this or matriculate only having 5 of the 8 gc credit hours?

Out of curiosity, how are you even able to finish your general biology degree without the second part of general chemistry? I never ran into this problem because both classes were required for me to complete my degree. Have you looked if it is offered as a winter course at your school?

You can try to use your biochem course in place of your gen chem course cause biochem is usually considered upper division ONLY IF biochem is not a prereq for that school...this does not work with ochem because it's usually a prereq, but it can probably work with any other chem, like pchem or analytical chem, etc.

You could look into the first summer session to take gen chem. Hopefully the course finishes before whatever school you’re accepted to requires coursework to be finished.

Yes for the bio degree only one semester of gen chem and one of lab are required. I am taking biochem as a prereq for the schools as well. I'm thinking summer session may be the only way. Unless I am able to find a super expedited online course I could do over winter break, if such a course even exists.
@artist2022 you think it'll work as as long as I have substantial chemistry, thats not orgo or biochem? I found a supplemental gen chem course that's a 2 cr. 200 level course and some other 1 hour chem courses. Not sure if it matters but I have gotten an a- is every other chem course I've been in throughout undergrad.

Possibly but it's best to ask the schools directly. You're missing 3 units and they'll need those units....
As for summer courses, just remember that some schools don't accept courses taken the summer before you start school (ex. UCLA says all courses must be complete by June 30th if you start in the fall).
