So, I have about 60 hours shadowed (40 general, 20 ortho) and I'm planning on applying to some schools that RECOMMEND 100 hours. Should I even bother applying to these schools? I'm also studying for the DAT right now, so I kind of want to focus on that, but if I really have to shadow more with studying then I guess I have no choice but to shadow some more.

+1 Bump.

OP: do you know of an online resource that gives shadowing hr requirements?

is it 100 hrs of general shadowing? or does other specialty count as well?

It's a pain, but you have to check your schools. Either call or see websites. ADEA guide has info too, but some doesn't match the school websites. Some say required. Some suggest. Some want it before applying. Some explicitly say it has to be GP hours. And a few want letters of proof. It's random.

I went through my guide and checked all websites (not sure why since I'm not even applying), but it's not in presentable form and I think you should verify for yourself.

I specifically checked the school websites I plan on applying to see their requirements. The ones I'm worried about recommend 100 hours, and I only have 60 hours. It doesn't specify general or anything so I'm not sure what to do.

You could try calling. If you intend to continue shadowing later or even just as much as you can while studying, you can leave the end date blank to indicate it's on-going.

It's your call, but I wouldn't not apply over it unless you get a verbal vibe that you should really have it when applying.
