I have about 40 hrs shadowing (~30 with a DO and a letter), ~50 hours clinical volunteering, a 3.3 cGPA and a little over a 3.0 sGPA. I got a 497 on my MCAT. I feel like I could be ready for a september MCAT retake but am leaning toward just applying next cycle. Im wondering if i should just apply this cycle to a few schools anyway? Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

Only take the MCAT when you are ready and well prepared for it. I would also retake some science courses between now and next cycle and just prepare to apply next cycle from day 1

Is it a sign of good judgment to apply when you know your app is significantly below par?

Don't be a reapplicant, as that looks bad. 60% don't make it in and there is no reason you can't strengthen your app and be a much stronger applicant next cycle. Take biochemistry before retaking the MCAT and as stated retake some sciences and aim for a 3.25+ sgpa and 502+ MCAT. Get some more clinical hours. Apply early and broadly and you'll have a great shot vs now almost none so why waste the money.

Best of luck
