well my original plan was to apply for the fall 2012 entering class (so next spring) because by then i will have about 50 hours of science credits under my belt. i'm not worried about overall credits since i already have a business degree (300+ credits). i also wanted to apply next spring because by then i will have taken both organic chemistrys so i can be prepared for that section (more or less) on the DAT.

now i'm thinking though.. what if i apply for this cycle? i will have about 20 science hours under my belt as opposed to 50 - but they are all the gen sciences. bio1/2, chem1/2, physics 1/2 + labs. and i will most likely have all A's in them. the only things i worry about are:

-no organic chem classes taken so i would def have to take a prep course in that before the DAT.
-i would apply around august due to summer school.

i know there's an option to list all prospectively/currently enrolled courses so that's not a problem. i don't really have anything to lose except the app fee/time/effort but if i could get in somewhere a whole year early that would be SO awesome (since i have virtually nothing planned during NEXT gap year).

any advice/comments?

Assuming you can manage 20s on the DAT, you could very well get in for the upcoming cycle. But if you waited a year and turned in your app early next year, you'll likely have more choices in choosing where you'd like to go for dental school.

I agree, you really have nothing to lose by applying aside from money. In fact getting in a year earlier than anticipated is a big plus. The question is whether or not you'll be OK with going to wherever you get accepted.

This link has a step by step process on how to study and with what materials, im not sure how much of these studyign materials you have and are using. read through it and see if its really different from what you did, if it is your chances on improving are amazing. It really does work. Its an 8 week cycle/course maybe u can do it twice, aka 4 months and then hit that dat like no other.

Also my personal opinion would be to take a masters program in the sciences instead of a postbac, you should be able to get in somewhere especially with your situation a state college would be ideal where u can go to school for 1-2 years if thats an option and get a high science GPA
