Should I apply now or get more shadowing hours?

Hi everyone,

I currently have 20 shadowing hours from a variety of specialties. I also have 300+ clinical experience hours and 200+ research hours. Anyway, I obviously want to submit my application as soon as possible. However, I reached out to a surgeon who said that he would let me shadow him for a whole week in late June. Should I do that and bring my shadowing hours up to 40-50, or apply early and tell them that it is still ongoing?

Apply early. You can write on your app that you are starting this new shadowing soon and will have xx hours by xx date. How much direct patient interaction and direct doctor-patient observation is in your 300 clinical hours?
