Hey fellow pre-dents,
I have a dilema over whether to take a gamble or not. I'm taking Organic 1 this summer (which ends in mid-june) and 2 in the fall but was wondering if you think it is possible to take the DAT by August 1st and apply this year instead of waiting another whole year to apply. If I do poor on the DAT; I could then wait around till after Fall to retake......Just an idea and I appreciate the input.
Other info about me:
27 yrs old junior, former ortho lab tech/owner, current GPA=3.7, and doing gingivitis and diabetes/perio research, shadowed 100 hours in all fields.

Ochem 2 isn't really necessary for the DAT. The bulk of the info is in the 1st semester. You could get some study guides and learn the reactions you haven't seen yet for the 2nd semester. BUT, I recommend not trying this b/c you won't have the time needed to study for the test if you're taking a class over the summer. If you do terrible on the DAT, it will come back to haunt you (even with a retake).

If you can afford to do so, you might as well apply. You'll have 6 weeks without school to study for the DAT assuming you take it at the end of July/early August. Just make sure you put in the time during that period! If your GPA is decent, you owe it to yourself to take a shot at getting in and saving yourself that extra year.
