Trying to figure out if its worth it to apply DO or if spots have filled up by now.

Stats:

I just got my MCAT scores back which is why I postponed applying. 27M (8v, 9p, 10b)

3.1 cGPA, 3.2 sGPA-- International Economics Major, Pre-Med

I dont know man. Your MCAT is ok but applying this late with your gpa's might not be a good idea. I'll let someone else chime in.

You can. But know that most likely it might be too late. So maybe apply to one that you think you will be most comp at and se what happens?

I would probably wait because your chances would be better next cycle if you apply early. But if you have some cash to spare then its up to you.

I would yes,but get your ps statement done and submit it this week

if money is not an issue apply. if it is, wait. Applying early really does help. If you check out my mdapps, you can see with stats very similiar to yours i have received 4 interviews so far.

Apply to the 3 new schools and add maybe another 5 low tiers ie.. (Pikeville, WCU, LMU, WVCOM and Touro NY).

I kind of always wondered about the new school thing. It seems like it could go both ways.

New schools have no reputation and want students to come so it seems like they would take less competitive applicants. At the same time though, they want their first class to be super strong so that they ensure they get a good name when the class graduates, so that might make it harder.

Thoughts?

Of course they want their class super strong but the applicants who have strong GPA and/or MCAT scores usuallly have acceptances to the more established DO schools and most of them will pick these schools...Therefore, these new schools have no choice but chosing the people they accept with lower stats and start pulling many people out from their wait list.
