The main reason why I'm even asking this question is because I have not taken the MCAT yet! I was originally planning to take 2 gap years, go to PostBac then apply for M.D., but after talking with the doctor I been shadowing, I decided to apply for D.O. I don't graduate till mid-June so the earliest MCAT date I would have would be September (or even October..). Would that be too late in the cycle, since most are rolling admission? I don't exactly have the best stats so I feel like I would definitely be affected by late submission.

I think the MCAT is a little too late, try to take it earlier if you can. I had one acceptance cGPA 3.16 sGPA 3.35 25 MCAT took MCAT in August.

NO, you shouldn't apply this year if you haven't taken or scheduled the MCAT for like May... You need to apply June 1st to have your best shot.

I would wait until next year to apply, use this gap year to just focus on getting an MCAT score that is in the 60th percentile or better (with that GPA) and then when you are complete with the MCAT participate in some activities that can beef up your resume. Then in the spring pre-write your secondary essays of the schools you will be applying to and spend a good amount of time writing a good PS. Apply on June 1st and then send out your secondaries on the same day you receive them. Then sit back, twiddle your thumbs and wait for the interview invites. You should be fine with an early application, cGPA 3.2, sGPA 3.4 and a 60th percentile+ MCAT. Retaking some classes wont hurt you either.
