Looking at it now, i dont exactly meet the Tufts requirement of a dentist writing a letter stating 30 hours. I am getting a letter from a dentist...but i shadowed him for less than 30, i asked him just to include in it that i had spent time shadowing him. I shadowed another office for longer than 30 hrs. but that dentist is not the one who is writing my letter. So in AADSAS im debating whether to leave the hours for the dentist i got the letter from blank (so tufts wont know its under 30 and just put dates) or not apply. What do you guys think? Is tufts this picky and do Southerners even get in ?

I'm not sure how picky Tufts is, but I'm sure it's fine that your letter is coming from a dentist you spent less than 30 hours shadowing. You should probably call their admissions office and ask yourself though just to be sure. You should include both dentists on AADSAS though

You're not sure a gator might get in?
If I got in (from USF), then you (from UF) can definitely get in 😀

I wrote a letter that said "Maria has shadowed me for at least 30 hours" and then I asked him to sign it and then I sent it directly to Tufts. Well, not exactly like that, but a VERY concise letter saying pretty much just that. I think it was 2-sentences long... I really don't remember.

I called Tufts and they said that's pretty much all they really wanted so that is why I did that. I did not ask that dentist for a letter of recommendation because he did not have a computer 😀 (long story...) Anyway, APPLY TO TUFTS. Do not let a 1-sentence letter keep you from applying.
Sorry for the long post. I saw your question and I felt obliged to help a fellow FL student out 😉

I applied and was interviewed without the letter in question, because I didn't know it was required (I shadowed 50 hours, and he wrote me a recommendation, but apparently didn't include the hours because I didn't know he had to). After my interview, they told me I needed the letter, so I had my dentist email it to them, and I was accepted 3 days later. Apparently it's not a huge deal, just need it as a formality.

A friend of mine who was accepted at Stony Brook, Maryland, interviewed at Harvard and UCONN was rejected for not fulfilling the Tufts hour requirement...so just keep that in mind. This was for entering class of 2007 though

i didnt know Bulls thought so highly of Gators! Thanks for the replies guys....i still am not sure if its worth me applying but i hold Tufts in fairly high regards. I was thinking of switching Tufts to like Iowa or Louisville. I could always just get the letter if asked. I'll sleep on it. Thanks

me neither lol but I do 😎. I found out last month that my school (I love USF, btw) is tier 3 and UF is tier 1. So I do think highly of both schools but what I meant is that if I got in (USF alumni), then you should have no problem in terms of you being a gator (you said something about Tufts being too picky to pick a southerner such as yourself). Don't underestimate your school is my point😀...
