Hi Everyone,

I am scrambling to submit my AADSAS within the next week, and am hoping to take the DAT in october. I feel kinda hopeless because I'm unsure if it is even worth applying this late in the cycle. I have ok stats (3.9 GPA, cum laude, 2 years infectious disease research, hundreds of hours of community service, etc...) but I have yet to take this DAT.

Is it worth applying at all this year? or should I wait for next cycle? I know most schools are rolling admissions :/

I am a Florida resident btw.

Any insight/advice would be greatly appreciated

3.9 is better than just "ok" buddy. haha. Well, if you kick the DAT's ass, it won't be late. A 3.9 and 21+ DAT score will be ok even in October. Somebody will take you with those scores.

:zip: :luck:

thanks for the encouragement! Do you guys think it is a good decision to only apply to schools whose deadlines are Dec, Jan, and Feb? I noticed about half of the schools have deadlines in Sept, Oct, Nov (am i pretty much too late for these?)

apply to any of the schools to which you can still get in before the deadline. As long as you submit and it is there, they have to see your application. They might set it aside and wait for the official DAT scores.

If you turn your application in soon you should be fine. I had to retake my DAT on Halloween last year and I landed some interview with a way lower GPA of 3.4. Got interviews to USC, NYU, Temple, LECOM and MOSDOH, with an acceptance to USC (was accepted in July). Plus I had previously applied to another profession the year before, so if with the late DAT, applying to another program the year before and just a so-so GPA I did okay. You should be in good shape if you do well on the DAT

I'd apply. with a 3.9 GPA they'll want you no matter what time of year. Get a 20+ on the DAT and you're in

I would say applying early is very important. But it doesn't mean that an acceptance is not possible. I took my DAT in september, submit primary in October, then my secondaries in November and December. I got into my top second choice school. You will get a couple interviews with those stats but those interview invitations will be random 😕 I got accepted into a school with very high averages but didn't even get a courtesy response from my "safeties".
Just make sure everything is done and they are only awaiting your DAT score in October.

ok thank you for the heads up! I plan on submitting the AADSAS application in the next couple days or so..

what do you think about applying broadly? I'm figuring OOS friendly and private schools, but how many exactly? I was going to apply to around 15, but am kinda worried that even that may not be enough :/
