My overall GPA is around 3.17 and my Science GPA is around 3.08. I took the April's MCAT but, honestly, I'll be happy to break a 25. Low GPA due to my first two years, had 2.76. I have since transferred to another school and managed a 3.53 overall and a science GPA of 3.45 for the last two years. I am planning to stay another year to take more classes to raise my GPA. I have been working in a hospital setting for 2 years and volunteering for 6 months in the ER. Should I apply this year or wait another year?

I am planning to apply to all 20 osteopathic schools listed in AACOMAS.

Can someone give me an honest answer. <don't worry you're not gonna hurt my feelings>

Hihi!

Honestly, I think it's possible for you to get in, as long as your MCATs are alright. If they are 24-25 or higher, you will probably get interviews. My friend got into COMP, TUCOM, and declined an interview at AZCOM, and he had a 3.3 GPA and 3.1 Science GPA... He had about 6 Cs on his transcript... Also, you have a strong upward trend on your record, which is definately a plus... that being said, I think it's totally possible! He said the COMP people said 3.0 is the GPA cutoff for interviews. If you put on a good showing there, you might have a good chance of getting in.

Stop worrying and just apply this year. Your numbers are fine if you do get a 25. Just be ready to do some explaining during your interviews. They WILL bring up your past... but they just want to make sure that the "new you" is committed. Good luck!
PS If you get much less than a 25, I'd consider taking it again in August.

Hey Matthew,

I think you have a good chance. I know that you had some tough obstacles during your first year in college, but that is in the past. Dont focus so much on the past, focus on what you can do now to improve you application. Dont lack confidence in yourself or you will have a tough time with the application cycle.

BTW, I have read your PS. I will email you with my comments. Keep your head up. Oh, BTW, when you are granted an interview at PCSOM, let me know.
