Should I apply?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When you ask, Should I apply, do you mean do you have a shot at applying this cycle? or do you want us to tell you whether or not to apply to dental school? 😀

I think it never hurts to try! Perhaps apply to a 4-5 schools and see what happens. If anything you will gain experience about applying and interview, and learn more about those schools to talk about if you had to apply again.

With your numbers it is tough. Like Lane said it never hurts to apply. Make sure that you research the schools and that you fall within their ranges and meet their minimum requirements.

Recently just graduated with a degree in bio and want to apply this cycle and would like some input
GPA 3.19, sGPA 2.98, DAT 20AA & 22PAT. Strong upward trend 2.85 (first 2 years avg)-->3.6 (last 2 years avg). Strong letters/EC and doing a 1 year MBS program

Thanks!

I remember hearing at a UoP presentation that they love to see upwards trends and they would take that into consideration if your GPA was lower than what they want so I think it all depends on the school too.

Yes, you have a shot. Be aware of any cut-offs so you don't get filtered out. I would say apply broadly and look for schools within your academic range (my guide has the updated stats for 2017 - unlike the ADEA's which are from 2016). You should be applying to at least 12 schools in my opinion. Also, be sure the rest of your application is in order and write great secondaries along with everything else. GL!

Your DAT is just average and your GPA is below average. You do have a shot, but if we're being honest it's probably slim.

You definitely have a shot. Apply!
