Hello, I have a 3.83 GPA and 3.79 Science GPA. I am sure I will do well on my MCAT though I am taking it on September 10. I have volunteered for 2 months at a foreign hospital and volunteered for 3 years at a doctor's office. I haven't done any research.
Should I apply this year or not. How are my chances even though my application will be looked at late due to my delayed MCAT.

you should wait. you'll be very late in the cycle with a September test date.

really depends. are you willing to go to any medical school if that gains you 1 year? or are you willing to wait a year to get into the medical school of your choice.

If you apply this year, you will get rejected from many schools that would accept you next year. If that's ok with you, and you just want to go anywhere this year, then there is no harm trying to apply. What are your priorities?

I would rather get into medical school as of today. So what are my chances if I dont have the research.

Research is not a crucial part of an application, so you should be okay on that front.

My concern is not whether you should apply this cycle but, rather, if you can. Many schools have an Oct. 15 deadline for the primary application, and there's a reasonable chance you won't make that. Make sure you get all of your application materials squared away ASAP so that your AMCAS is ready to go as soon as your MCAT scores go up. I'd also suggest taking a look at the 2008-2009 secondary app prompts thread and knocking out the secondaries you plan to complete ahead of time. You'll still be applying late in the cycle, but at least you'll save yourself a couple weeks' worth of secondary work.

If I send in my application earlier than my MCAT will that make a difference or will they both be viewed together?
