Hey I'm looking for some advice on whether I should apply to medical school.

I'm a sophomore Astrophysics/Music major at a StateU. I had a rough freshman year but I can get my overall GPA up to around 3.5 before I apply (my BCPM GPA is 4). My original plan was either Law school or grad school for astro, but medical school seems like a better option.

I'm asking because I know my GPA is a little low for medical school. I'd like to go to a UC school (I'm out-of-state). I understand that you can't predict where I will get in, but I'd like to know if it would be a waste of time taking the prerequisites if I have no chance at those kinds of schools (competitive) with my GPA. I'm an "underrepresented-minority" btw if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Your BCPM GPA is a 4.0. Your uGPA is a 3.5.
That is not low. uGPA slightly, but many have gotten in with gpa's at 3.5.
Stop worrying. The BCPM 4.0 gpa is a big plus.

No one can reassure you that you're a shoo-in for California schools, but as an underrepresented minority with a 3.5/4.0/decent MCAT score, if you have the usual and customary ECs, you'd have a good chance of an acceptance at a med school somewhere. For odds of success depending on various MCAT outcomes, see sector9's sticky at the top of this forum.
