Hello,

I applied to around 35 schools this year. I have 8 Rs and had 1 interview in the beginning of October at Vermont that resulted in a DD back in late November. I am starting to get very worried about the possibility of not getting in this cycle and am looking for advice on how to improve my application for next cycle as I am honestly not sure how to improve my application. I have a WAMC a while back on my profile, but in short I got a 515 (128/128/130/129) and have a 3.8 GPA. I would love if someone would be willing to look my application over via PM

Thank you :,)

If you are interested in trans specific care and research, you may want to consider applying to MD/PhD? But you need to then have sufficient research before applying. If you want to apply only MD, I would abandon the "theme" outlining your narrow interest in trans specific care and instead tell the story of how your LGBTQ background shaped your interest in medicine.

OP: I don't think I've reviewed your application, so make an appointment. Having only 1 interview suggests essay issues given your WAMC activities descriptions. I cannot exclude the possibility that political undercurrents in play at some schools on your list, but medical school education leaders and AAMC have been adamant about gender-affirming care.

What did your final list of schools shake out to? Agree that you need to review essays

You had a donations on your list in OOS public schools that heavily favor IS applicants.

It's possible that your app focus (and interview) may have been too LGBT focused, and that led screeners to think "this kid will still have to treat non-LGBT patients well before they can get into such a narrowly targeted specialty"

My school has rejected such candidates.
