I already have 2 MD LORs (Surgeon, Family doc)

I shadowed a DO (family doc) and don't know if it would make any difference if I sent in his LOR.... May just seem like a waste...

Nothing is a waste. Do it.

You don't have to and unless you are going to apply DO you really did not need the letter to begin with. Some schools do get annoyed when people send excessive letters. Keep in mind the schools that limit the number of letters and don't over send.

I'm also applying to DO. I'm just wondering what the average is for them to get "annoyed."

Schools have a list of the type and amount of letters they expect. Keeping in mind schools are very busy I wouldn't send any more letters then they ask for and if the school states not to send more then X amount, then don't. If I were you send the DO LOR and one of the MD LOR to your DO schools and don't push it. More is not better. Think Quality not quantity.

I sent my DO letter to the ACMAS (included in the committee letter) and it hasn't affected me negatively. Heard from two MD schools and have two MD interviews so far. If it's a good letter that you believe says something about you the others don't send it.

How many LORs did you send in total?

2 Sci profs ( one was my teacher/research adviser/TA'd for her/neuro dept head and the other was a biochem teacher/adviser)
1 humanities prof (french teacher)
1 DO doctor I've shadowed

4 letters in total

then there is the committee letter which compiles the information form all the letters and makes a recommendation. So 5 if you count this one.

Hmm, icic. I have a bit more (Maybe too much more)

1 committee letter (5 profs)

2 MD

2 DO

you have nine letters?

I'm a bit confused at how the committee letter works but yes pretty much. Those are all the letters I have at this point in time.

The committee letter is like a letter packet but they compile all the highlights from your letters and resume and give the adcoms their recommendation on you as a student as well. So that adds a letter technically. 9 (or 10) depending on how you look at it is way too many letters to have sent. I'd pick the best of the physician letters and only send that one. They can't all possibly say different things.
