I really want to interview at UT-Southwestern and I turned in my 2ndary almost 2 or three weeks ago and have heard nothing back. i have also heard nothing from UTSA or UTMB and I turned stuff into them nearly 2 months ago. Should I start calling the med schools f for an answer to make sure they have processed my things or should I just be patient??

2 months is a long time to be patient. Especially since ppl around me who turned their application in as late as lat week are getting interview offers.

Its not 2 months though, since they dont start processing your application until the secondary is complete. Its been 2 weeks as far as UTSW is concerned.

Id wait 2 more weeks and give them a call then, they are more likely to have finished processing your application by then.

So processing starts after MCAT scores are sent in???

The thing is that I had my secondary sent out to Tech in September....mail the check about 12 days ago and got an interview offer less than 5 days after that. Houston sent me an offer soon after my MCAt scres were in. So I'm just wondering what is up with UTSA that has had my stuff for awhile and UTMB that doesn't even have a 2ndary. .....and UTSW which seems to be nterviewing friends of mine that sent their stuff in really late.

And are they pretty quick at sending rejection letters or do they wait it out?? I'm thinking i they haven't sent me a rejection after all this time that they are probably just waiting for a slot to open up to interview me.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic though.

Just call them. It's quite obvious from your posts that you've already made up your mind to call. So stop wasting people's time and pick up the phone.

I apologize for taking the 2 precious minutes of your day with my trivial pursuits. 🙄

Girl congrats on the interview offers
I'd say call them, wouldnt hurt, I usually act extremely nice on the phone, saying Good morning or good afternoon and it seems to be working, either that or my voice is sexy

I can just imagine you using a deep sultry voice with the adcom 🙂 .

But yea, I finally got 2 interview invites for next week. One in Houston and one waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the hell out in the middle of nowhere (but hey, I'm not gonna be picky). I guess I'll give 'em til Thursday and then do some calling Friday morning. What should I say? 😕 or better yet, what should I avoid saying?

To answer your question about rejections - Texas schools don't send out rejection letters, you just don't get asked to interview or you just don't get accepted.

OH that's right I do think San Antonio will send a letter but it takes them a long time.

You're kidding me?!

Unfortuntely this process is a SLOW and AGONIZING time in the med school applicant's life.

People who haven't applied have NO idea what this process puts you through.

That said..... remember schools interview all the way to next April. So you could be called any time between now and then.

If it would give you a peace of mind, then call them or email them and ask if they will verify that your application is complete. And then ask if you are still being considered for a possible interview.

Good luck and be patient. Waiting stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for what to say, just tell them you are calling to verify that your application is complete. It's a good idea to check on it anyway and they can tell you if something is missing. You never know when they might misplace one of your letters or something like that. Can't hurt!

Good luck
Theresa
