Should I complain if they cancelled my interview but I already booked a flight?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll let aPD or someone that really knows give you an answer, but I just wanted to chime in that any program that did this and didn't offer to pay any change fees...probably not a program I'd want to be in.

Ouch, that would suck. Unless I really loved the program I would probably choose not to interview there just out of principle. I'm not saying it's their fault, but if you already bought the ticket, they should understand that. It seems a little unprofessional of a program to do that. It's not like applicants who are expected to have to cancel once in a while because of scheduling conflicts that come up after interview dates are set up. I feel like programs should have their stuff together when they decide to release the interview schedule.

They worked something out and paid for my fee to change the ticket. I'm relieved, but at the same time I wonder if this will make my interview day awkward. I've already thanked them by phone and email...when my interview day comes, should I mention it again, or will it just bring up an awkward moment?

I don't think I would mention it unless it comes up.

Yeah just leave it alone, that was good of them and a fair thing to do, but it's not like they did you a huge favor. They must have made a mistake somewhere to begin with.

If they bring it up I would just make a joke out of it like, "Well it's said that getting there is half the fun....and boy were those Eagle Pretzels fresh"
