If I don't get in anywhere this year, should I consider an SMP for the fall? Also, when are the apps due, and is there a particular SMP that would be good for someone with my stats? I have a 29M and a 3.75/3.55

I don't want to retake the MCAT because it is my verbal that was low and it didn't improve at all during my preparation...

It's your MCAT that is holding you back, not your GPA. Thus, an SMP is not going to help you at all. Retake the MCAT or apply to DO schools.

SMP is for low GPA and high MCAT.....so it will not help you since you are the other way.....

1) You should not do an SMP

2) You shouldn't really need anything at all. Even with a low verbal, those aren't bad stats. How broad was your application? Did you get any interviews at all?

3) You should have applied to DO schools.

4) Now that it's too late for that, suck it up and retake the MCAT. Many questions + lots of reading every day and your verbal will go up.

^This.

From your backposts, it looks like you applied late, which can be the kiss of death for borderline stats. If you've continued to improve your application since you applied, I'd just reapply the first week of June. And this time include some DO schools.

What happened with the SIU application?

Applying early is key but I would still suggest a retake since the MCAT at best would give you an outside chance....you have already blown one app cycle why do another cycle....

unless you dont think you can do much better on the MCAT.

Retake the MCAT and get a 31/32...much stronger app.

and apply early this time!!

Retake MCAT and raise it. Don't waste time in SMP, IMO.
