My first semester of college is finished. I have 3.3 GPA. I had A's in my elective and forum classes. I had a B in gen chem and a C+ in calc 1 (I was 1% off getting a B). For my calc class, my professor made the first few exams and I did well on them. However, the math department made the final exam. My TA said that the final would be about the same difficulty level; so I studied the same way that I did for the previous exams. However, I thought the final was much harder than the others and I did significantly worse. For chemistry, I didn't figure out the best way to study until about halfway through the semester. Do you think I'm far off the track to med school as of now? Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

I just got accepted to a school and my first semester of undergrad I had a 2.76 and second semester 3.1 GPA. I had C's in both calc 1 and 2 so if you really figured out your studying methods and your GPA was a 3.3 you're just fine. Interviews I've had they even talked about how it wasn't a big deal and an upward trend in your grades also looks good.

Edit: Forgot to add in I also kicked it into high gear after freshman year and made deans list each semester and finished with a GPA of 3.7. I would imagine this is doable for you as well just don't slack on studying.

A GPA of 3.3 is too low for medical school (allopathic). You need to improve your grades moving forward and figure out study habits that will work for you. These were presumably the easiest classes you'll take, so you really need to buckle down moving forward. Additionally, it feels anecdotes like who made the test are important when they have just occurred, but medical schools won't be interested in excuses. You can't be studying with what you need you think to get by - you need to be studying in a way that leaves as little room for a poor result as possible.
