Hi everyone! I am starting to get very worried that I haven't heard back from three schools until now. Since I got rejected by other schools, I have been debating if I should email/call them at this point and ask about my application status. Will schools email applicant if they are wait listed? (honestly I am not even sure if I am wait listed…) Thanks in advance!

If you aren't hearing anything then calling them would do nothing. You are probably going to be rejected from them. I say this because you probably did not have any interviews yet from those 3 schools. You first need to be interviewed to get on the waitlist.

Have you had any interviews or acceptances yet? If not, unfortunately it looks like you might be out of luck this cycle. When did you apply? Stats? How many schools did you apply to?

how do you know OP didn't have interviews? maybe they mean they are post-interview, waiting to hear back.

Things can be deduced my dear Watson.

Hint #1: Op mentions he has been rejected from all expect 3
Hint #2: He wants to know about his application status. Usually those that attend an interview find out within 5 weeks

Yes, no interviews 🙁
I haven't heard back since I submitted my secondaries. I got a feeling that my app was down at the bottom of the pile and they might just forget to reject me.
Thanks for your comment!

I applied in October during this cycle (I know it is very late).
My mcat is very low (25). GPA is (3.54/4.0)
Applied 21 schools (18 rejections)

Does this include osteopathic schools?

No, I applied to allopathic schools only

Well then it's no surprise that you've been rejected to every school you applied to. For the most part, unless you are a URM from a state with a heavy in state bias school, you shouldn't have even applied MD this cycle. Scores are just entirely too low. With all due respect, I'm actually surprised three schools haven't rejected you yet.

Unless you are willing to retake the mcat AND capable of doing SIGNIFICANTLY better than your first attempt, you should only apply to osteopathic programs. Apply early and broadly.

With applying to medical school, like stock, you had to diversify your stock options.

Not saying allopathic is impossible, your stats at the moment aren't that competitive for MD programs. But it would be wise to look into DO programs the next cycle, however they too receive competitive applications. Unless you retool your MCAT or grades/credible post bacc (more time and money) it's a long shot.

But, you should search SDN, there's a number of people with good information about DO programs. I would even suggest focusing on that instead, unless you had very specific reasons otherwise. And next time apply early.

Yeah, MCAT score really hurts me. Thank you very much for your advice!

No.
You should always have a Plan B too.
