This is probably a dumb question since I've only taken TPR tests, but I would like everyone's opinion of this.

I've taken 8 TPR tests so far, and my science scores have been decent. It's mainly verbal that's been killing me. Here are my tests so far:

1 = 27; 10 PS, 7 V, 10 BS
2 = 26; 10 PS, 5 V, 11 BS
3 = 32; 13 PS, 8 V, 11 BS
4 = 31; 10 PS, 9 V, 12 BS
5 = 33; 12 PS, 8 V, 13 BS
6 = 33; 11 PS, 10 V, 12 BS
7 = 31; 13 PS, 7 V, 11 BS
8 = 27; 10 PS, 6 V, 11 BS

I haven't gone over test 8 yet since I took it this morning, but I'm really worried since my score dropped a ton. My test is on August 19, so I do have a bit of time to improve, but the verbal is killing me. I realized that time was an issue since I tended to rush through passages at the end and a bulk of my mistakes were at the 6th and 7th passage, so I read faster. Now I seem to get things wrong because I just don't understand the main idea/central arguements, which was never an issue before. I have the EK books, and I've gotten an 8 on the first one and a 7 on the second, close to the 7/8 border though.. I really don't want to have to delay the test, but at this rate, if I can't do well on 1 section, then there is no point for me to set myself up for failure.

What do you guys think? Should I wait and take an AAMC test before deciding, or is this proof that I need to reschedule my test date?

Take it man! TPR tests for me were about 3-5 points below my AAMC average. Judging by your scores you're doing good though. I'm in the same boat so I feel your pain. I would definitely recommend taking AAMC tests from now on though. GL!

if your not ready for verbal, dont take the test. I made that mistake and got killed on verbal. I took the TPR class. Plus, if you've read the recent post on the 6/16 thread, people who were averaging 10/11/12's on the AAMC's are getting like 6,7's on their scores, with some 5's, which is a HUGE drop. Yes, maybe it was nerves or that particular section, but everyone says the real verbal is longer and harder to its pointless to take the exam and get a bad, unbalanced score. I wish I would not have taken the test.

My advice would be to take AAMC 11 before the 2 week deadline for canceling, and see how you do. if you score near your target then take the exam. Also, did the TPR exams help? which do you recommend taking? i have time to squeeze in 3 or 4 and was wondering which I should take. goodlluck man

I really want to take the test ASAP just to get it done with and not drag it out, but I really don't want to mess up my first time through. That would suck just because I would have to do it all over again, which would be a huge pain. I just would like some more input about this just so I can see what other people are thinking. I just want to put this test behind me so I will do whatever it takes to raise that verbal score within the 3-4 weeks I have left.

As for the TPR tests, I didn't really like 1, and 8 was pretty hard (the sciences were like verbal, you had to extract and apply info from the passages a ton), but all the others are really good. I liked 3-7. 8 is good if you wanna push yourself. It may kill your score though.

Honestly, probably nothing. It's just that I want to be done with the test before classes start at the end of August. I know that I can do well on the sciences with a bit more practice, but the only thing holding me back on verbal. I guess I'm being optimistic in the sense that I think I can break double digits in verbal within the month and hold that score consistently above or equal to a 10, but I don't know if it is feasible at this point. Plus, I haven't taken an AAMC test yet, so maybe my scores aren't entirely representative of the "real thing".
