A secondary prompt reads: "Describe a time or situation where you have been unsuccessful or failed. What did you learn from this experience and how have you applied this learning to your work and/or life?"

Is it acceptable to discuss my failed first attempt at admission to medical school and what I learned from it? I applied to this school the first time so it's not like they wouldn't know if I didn't tell them.

I reapplied 3 times.

I did not do this. I mean maybe someone with experience in admissions might say different? The time i successfully reapplied I tried to approach the 'adversity' essay this:

-Think of a time i failed
-demonstrated what i learned
-showed how i used that knowledge to successfully meet new challenges

Not getting into medical school being the worst thing that happened to you is weird. And until you get in you can't really say you were able to adapt and bounce back. Because you remember you won't be giving them any NEW information here from the rest of your app. Show something they don't know.

Conflict at work? Mistakes in research? Sick family? falling out with a friend? those sound better. but i am just a guy who finished M1.
