Hello everyone, I am a recent college graduate with a bachelors in biology and I plan to go to medical school. I graduated with an overall gpa of 3.75 and a science gpa of 3.6. I am planning on taking the mcat this year. I am afraid that my lack of medical experience could keep me from getting into a medical school. To date, I only have roughly two months of clinical experience. My main question is whether I should apply to advanced(graduate level) postbacc programs or instead get a job that is related to the medical field(e.g. a scribe) and take a couple of biomedical classes each semester at my local community college? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say your GPA looks good. What I would do is get some clinical volunteering in and study hard for the MCAT.

Don't do post-bacc, and don't take any more classes if you have all the pre-reqs. I would suggest taking a gap year and apply in the 2016-2017 cycle. Get as much community service and clinical experience as possible during this gap year, while working at a job of your choice. If you score well on MCAT, you will have a decent chance at both MD and DO schools, so make sure you devout sufficient time in preparation.

I agree, definitely get some experience in! It'll not only give you more credibility when it comes to the "why do you want to be a doctor?" question but it'll also provide you with more perspective. Unless you need those biomedical classes to fulfill the prerequisites, I'd say take the year to try new things in the medical field and find what you enjoy doing [emoji4] best of luck!

Post-bacc is for those who have little science course experience and those who have fluctuations in GPA in undergrad. You do not seem to fall into either of these so spend the time doing a clinically related job
