Here are my stats with my final gpas

CUNY Brooklyn College
science gpa-4.0
total gpa-3.95
MCAT- 8 VR 12 PS 11 BS, 31R

I pretty much only want to go to einstein. from what i understand, their average mcat is about 32ish.. i know my gpa is above theirs but my verbal pretty much stinks. My average mcat has been 9.0 VR, 12.1 PS and 12.7 BS.

I'm a science major and primarily took advanced science courses like biochem and histology. I dont have anything wild and spectacular in my personal statement and my letters are mostly average. My extra curriculars are pretty nice, nothing huge like go to a dif country but many little things.

Since i got my mcat, i freaked out a bit and am currently planning on applying pretty much everywhere around NY, including new hampshire the PA and MA schools, maryland, etc. DO is out of the question.

Einstein is my super number 1 but i would be happy with downstate and stonybrook too. Id be happy with anything in nyc but i know my mcat doesnt really cut it.

Anyways thanks for reading till now and heres my question: Since i know that einstein is my number 1, should i do early decision? I'm afraid my mcat might screw me over then ill be a very late applicant everywhere else. If i retake the mcat, im fairly certain i will score 2 more points, probably 9 12 12. The 2 points might actually make a difference but i would be a later applicant(id retake july 18). I am planning to apply to schools in different states but i would MUCH rather stay in ny(dont wanna go upstate either) dont get me wrong though the schools in ma and pa are awesome and i would still love to go there too(assuming i can even get in!)

So, what do you guys think?? early decision? retake? screw it, apply early and hope to get in to a good school anyways?

THANKS!!!!

Oh, and I dont have a super incredible sounding reason that i want to go to einstein, other than its a great school, i like their philosophy, close to home and has wonderful jewish accommodations(but i hear playing the jew card at einstein is a bad idea)

There's no way you'll get into Einstein (especially Early) with an 8 in VR. If your MCAT retake score is available in late August, you should still be in the running to start in 2009. You can try to communicate with the Admissions Office about your situation and see what they say.

I think you're better off applying regular after retaking the MCAT than early. Think of it this way; your chances of getting in early are very low, while you still have a chance at regular if your MCAT goes up. If you bring your VR up to 9 and the others stay, you'll be a competitive applicant as your GPA is high.

definitely not what i wanted to hear...retaking will be such a pain though. do you really think that a retake for a 9 in verbal(which was my average so i guess i could get an 8 again.. out of the 8 aamc verbals i got 2 8's) will be worth it to be a later applicant.. i was hoping to be ahead of the pack..starting to apply late august would put me pretty much behind the pack

say i decide to apply early with what i got to about 20 schools in ny, ma and pa etc.. i should still have a shot getting into an md school, right? now im gettin nervous..

I do think you have a shot at getting into an MD school, provided those you apply to have selectivity in line with your stats, and that you have the usual expected ECs, reasonable LORs, and interview well. Apply broadly, including "reach" and "safety" schools.

Agree you should not go ED.
