I've posted a few times on here about this, but I'd like one final opinion from you guys now that I've calculated my for sure GPA. I'm wondering whether or not I should apply this round. I'd really appreciate your advice!
3.16 cGPA
3.17 sGPA
My freshman GPA was 2.1 and I transferred schools to live at home and my gpa not including freshman year was 3.4.
I had a bad freshman year due to serious family issues.
EMT
1 semester biochem research
Leadership: President TriBeta
Volunteer: Medical response at a big church, TriBeta, PreMed Club
40 hrs MD shadowing
(Should get some DO shadowing within the next couple months)
I would be taking my MCAT in a few weeks. Assume I would get a 28 (to be safe). I have my application about half way done. I don't want to work my butt off studying the next couple of weeks and finishing my application (and spending money) if my chances of getting in anywhere are slim. I'm interested in DO schools as well as Uniformed Services University. Would it be a better idea to retake a few classes to get my GPA up to around 3.4-3.5 (I know I can do... I've straightened up and figured things out) and apply next year? Or should I put the effort into it now?
