i'm on summer break right now and i have absolutely nothing planned (in terms of academics). all i'm gonna do is relax and vacation. anyways, i came across this EMT refresher course that is nearby. it's only 4 days long and it doesn't cost a whole lot so i was thinking about doing it just to do something this summer. so my question is if you guys thought that there would be any point in doing it (i.e. would it help out for residency apps). i'm most likely not going to use the certification to work as an EMT again but it just seems like an easy thing to do over the summer.

I can't really see how it would help in applying for residency, but if you're that bored, go for it. My advice: drink more beer.

Would it help for residency? Naah, but Step 1 would.

there's no way it could help for residency.

Summer break versus EMT course. Summer break without a doubt. EMT course worthless for residency, PLUS during residency there is not even COFFEE break, so enjoy your break while you still have it. LOL

dude, just chill...get on a plane and go to Ibiza or something!

I agree - I can't see it helping for residency applications. Do it if you're really interested, but otherwise I would take the break and enjoy it since you won't have many summers off ever again.

thanks guys for giving me the (little) encouragement i need to spend my summer CHILLING. much appreciated.

Why don't you do something that WILL help you on your residency application, like research, preceptorship, volunteer work...?

not an option harrie. those things will interfere too much with my beer drinking and beach bumming. 😀

it's short in terms of days but the hours are the same. it's like fri 6-10, sat/sun 8-6, and mon 6-10 over at ucla.
