Should I drop it?

I'm taking a comparative vertebrate anatomy class which I had a rough start in at the beginning of the semester. Would it look bad if I drop it now and retake it next semester, or should I stick it out to get a C? I really believe that if it weren't for the bad start in the beginning I would be in the high B or A range.

I guess my question is does it look worse to have a C or to have a dropped class that I had to retake?

depends on how many Ws you have and how it'll affect your GPA.

if this is one of your very few Ws then i'd take the W.

if you're borderlining a competitive GPA then i'd take the W.

if your gpa is going to fall below a 3.0 w/ the C in anatomy this semester, then take the W.

if your other classes will average your semester GPA out to above a 3.0, and if you already have some Ws, i'd take the C.

Thanks for the advice. I am a transfer student and this is my first year at this school, so averaging a C into the mix right now would probably make my GPA drop since my cumulative GPA is only going to be from last semester and this semester. Right now I have a 3.25 and I was hoping that this semester would actually raise that! lol

In order for me to pull my grade up, I'd have to work my a** off, put in massive amounts of study time, which would take away from my other courses, and ultimately lower my GPA.

I'm leaning towards dropping it.

I personally think it's better not to drop if you know that you cannot get anything lower than a C. However, if you do decide to drop, be sure to have a legit excuse during your interview because they might ask you why you dropped the course.

I only had one W and it was in a Spanish elective I didnt even need. I explained it away and her response was "Yes, it isn't of concern. It would make more of a difference if it were a major-related course."

So.... I maybe wouldnt drop a major-related course. A "C" is okay. Just focus a little harder on those types of classes where a little more work will earn you a high A. Scoring big in those easy electives can balance the GPA hit from that C.

I'd stick it out. Good luck.
