So the thread title is pretty self explanatory.. Should I drop physics? I have a C and am pretty confident I can finish the year with a C but not very confident in getting a B.

I have a 3.7 GPA and around a 3.6 sGPA. I am a Junior and took the DAT this summer and made a 21. I already have 3 W's and I want to go to my state school LSU.

Anyways I want to drop this class because I have never gotten a C and don't want to start now and also because I dont want a C in a pre req. The grading scale for this class is 60-79 is a C. 80-89 is B. and 90-100 is an A. I have around a 64 right now and I know I can keep the C because I have yet to study for a test yet (we have had 2) and have a C so obviously I could keep it if I started studying for it (which I plan on doing). I am taking 17 hours already and have all A's in the others so I could finish this semester with the C and still keep my 3.7 I'm just worried if getting a C in physics is a big deal or not. And before people ask me why I didnt study, I was just so burned out from studying this whole summer that I just havent gotten back into studying again yet. I know this isnt an excuse and is dumb but thats why I havent and I'm finally going to get back into things.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

What are you other 3 W's in? I think 4 W's might raise a red flag. It might make you seem like a quitter, unless there were explainable circumstances for the other W's. Not studying enough is definitely not a good explanation for a W. I would suggest working very hard and taking the risk. Your worst case scenario should be a C, but you can try your best to bring it up. Just my two cents. Best of luck studying!

First two were gen chem II and gen chem lab. Were during freshman year when I partied alot and didnt want to study. Ended up getting A's n them next time around. 3rd W was an online class that I thought I had dropped before the W date for drop classes (first 2 weeks of school) in my sophomore year and then was a dumb ass and didnt read it after I clicked "drop" and said I had to go talk to an advisor to drop it. Didnt realize I was still in it til I checked my mid term grades and had a ZERO in the class.

I have no good excuse for dropping any of those classes besides immaturity basically.

Don't drop! You can do it, and one C won't be the end of the world with your good stats.

Good luck! 🙂

any other advice?

if you ain't positive u can get a B, I would drop it. 4th W don't look good, but I think it is better than a C.

Im in the same predicament, not even sure i can pull of a B in my genetics class. Thinking of dropping it

Some schools don't accept grades lower than a C+ in prereqs so you might have to retake it anyways. Both a C and a W look bad (if you have a W, one can assume you had a grade <B- ). What's important is excelling at the class the second time.

I just dropped genetics this semester. That class is so freaken hard. Hopefully I can get easy professor next semester. Can't afford C in 4 credit class.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2!

DUDE I have about 11 days to think about this. hahaha. Everything is going **** for me in genetics. I missed the 1st quiz, bombed the 2nd one, but pulled out a B+(82) WITH a curve on the 1st test. I think im sitting around a high B right now.

The only reason why Im still thinking of staying is that my teacher does a curve at the end in which top 50% of class gets B or better. So I am pretty sure the WORST case scenario for me is a C+. PLUS, I have been having this god damn flu for over a week and can't focus on studying at all... If I drop this thing I feel like a big weight will be lifted off my shoulder lol.

dont know what to do.

My school doesn't have a +/- system so I would get a C. I have an A in every class and I really dont want a C.. but I also feel like I'm getting near the end of the amount of W's I can use.. 🙁 I have til November 2nd to get **** done and I dont know what to do!

I wouldn't take another W, just do your best and get it over with. Talk to the professor to see if there is anything you can do for extra credit.
